Helping students build mental fitness skills through connection, self-awareness, and coping strategies in a safe and supportive space.

PAUSE (Peers Advocating for United Success Everyday) was created in 2021 in response to a growing need for student mental health support across York County. Through conversations with local educators, social workers, and community partners, the need for accessible, school-based mental wellness support became clear, and PAUSE was developed to meet that need.

With support from community partners and an initial grant, the program launched as a pilot in local school districts and has continued to grow each year. Today, PAUSE remains a free program for schools, offering structured mental fitness groups that support students’ emotional well-being through connection, skill-building, and peer support.

PAUSE is a program of NAMI York-Adams, a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving mental health through education, support, and advocacy for individuals and families in our community.
